This phenomenon is known in the literature as the “Golem effect.” This article presents a case study of an HPI adolescent. We obtained quantitative data from two WISC-5 tests administered over two time intervals and qualitative data using the Rorschach projective test and the boredom proneness scale (“échelle d’ennui” or EDE in French). The drop in scores from one WISC-5 to the next indicates intellectual inhibition, which was also found in the Rorschach responses. The boredom score reinforces the hypothesis that a restrictive situation is a contributing factor. This case study shows that intellectual inhibition can constitute a defense mechanism in HPI adolescents facing school expectations experienced as boring and burdensome, as well as poor educational interactions, an inhibition referred to as the “Golem effect.” The Golem effect shows the imprint of psychotrauma in the school environment, which is hypothetically more pronounced in HPI individuals.

This study shows differences in the school experience of visually impaired adolescents according to the type of schooling and the type of disability, i.e., whether or not they are able to access visual information. This highlights human, organizational, and material difficulties associated with inclusion. Even if the school experience of these young people is generally good, they have to make a lot of effort to adapt in order to succeed and they report significant exhaustion at the end of the school day. The young people in post-bac education are those who report the greatest difficulties.

Based on the clinical vignettes of Chris and Kélian, encountered in the context of a pilot study, we explore the role of traumatic life experiences and child protection paths, sometimes tinged with ruptures, on their representations of attachment and their singular psychic problems. We show how, at the heart of child protection services, different temporalities are at work and encroach on the psychic temporality of children in care, leaving them in great psychic suffering. These illustrations make it possible to discuss the prospects for putting children back at the center of clinical practices, by considering their reception and adjusting support according to their functioning. The aim of attachment- and mentalization-based support is thus to foster a more harmonious psychic and emotional development of the child in care.

These reorganizations can be studied using projective tests, including the Rorschach. It is the psychic dynamics of women expecting their first child, in a general, risk-free population, that we wish to study in this article. After recalling the intensity of the psychic processes at work during pregnancy, and the lack of projective studies in the general population over this period of life, we will present our research, which took place in a regional university hospital. We will present the results of 14 Rorschach protocols carried out during two stages of pregnancy. Many indicators deviate significantly from the norms of the general population. We will try to explain the details and underpinnings.

Title: Construction and evolution of Becoming a Student in children in nursery school: An ecological approach of the role of parental involvement in educational life at school and at home
